Railing Designs
Bridge railings are an essential part of any bridge’s design, and their specific design can greatly affect the bridge’s stability. Our investigations focus on testing different railing designs to determine their impact on the magnitude of buffeting loads, vibration amplitudes, and accelerations.
For bridges located in colder climates, we also investigate the effect of accumulated ice or snow on the railings to determine any potential safety risks.
Our investigations may be in connection with the evaluation of a new bridge design or the retrofitted railings as part of suicide prevention measures. Railings are an important part of bridge safety and we will work closely with clients to ensure that their specific needs are met.
