Structural dynamics are a core competence of SOH Wind Engineering. SOH Wind Engineering carries out dynamic analysis of all kind of structures – onshore as well as offshore, subjected to all kind of dynamic loads – human, environmental, traffic, seismic, pile driving etc.
Structures with low damping may be susceptible to vibrations that grow to a severe magnitude. This occurs when the exciting frequency of the external force is resonant with the structural natural frequency. Resonance can cause discomfort, fatigue and damage.
SOH Wind Engineering uses several tools for the dynamic analysis of structures. For linear finite element analysis GT Strudl is used, while Abaqus and Nastran are used for non-linear finite element analysis and other more complicated applications. The results are often validated by actual measurements.
